State Director for Louisiana

Leah Long is the state director for Louisiana and Mississippi. Long most recently served as southeast regional director and coalitions director for U.S. Sen. John Kennedy of Louisiana. Before moving to Louisiana, she worked as government relations and membership director of the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians. Long holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Arkansas Tech University.

Dawn Starns, who holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Louisiana State University, most recently served as executive director of the Capitol Region Legislative Delegation and CAP PAC LLC. She also managed the Legislators’ Charity Fund, which raised money to help the homeless as well as children’s programs and a local food bank.

She previously was executive branch liaison between Kimble Development and the Louisiana Office of Community Development and event manager for the Leadership for Change! Summit on education reform.
