Governor Signs Tax Bill: Small Businesses in State to Get Economic Boost

Date: May 30, 2018

New law will spur growth, create new Jobs, improve Iowa economy.

HIAWATHIA (May 30, 2018) – NFIB, the leading small-business association in Iowa and the nation, thanked Governor Kim Reynolds for signing a new state tax bill into law today, which promotes small-business growth.  Small-business owners and the State Director of NFIB in Iowa, Matt Everson, attended that bill signing to show their support.

“When small-business owners have less of a tax burden, they invest that money back into their companies, creating new jobs and sending more tax dollars back to the state,” said Everson. “We see that federal tax reform is creating a surge of business expansion nationally, additional purchasing and more hiring. Iowa’s conformity to the federal code allows businesses in our state also to prosper, and not be hindered by state law.”

“Along with lower income tax rates, the new expensing and deduction rules will also help small-business owners. It will make it worth buying updated production equipment, a new truck, or a larger building.” Added Everson. “Iowa has become known as a high tax state, but this will gradually turn the tide.  It will make our state a much more attractive place for a business to relocate or open.”
