SMALL BUSINESS REACTION TO REYNOLD’S CONDITION OF THE STATE

Date: January 09, 2018

DES MOINES (January 9, 2018): In response to Governor Reynold’s Condition of the State Address, the following statement may be attributed to National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Iowa State Director, Matt Everson:

We cannot thank the Governor enough for her leadership on small business issues. Today’s remarks were music to the ears of hard-working Iowa small business owners that are doing their best to remain focused on creating jobs and serving their local communities.

Governor Reynold’s identified our tax code as exactly what it is, antiquated and punitive to small business owners in our state. We are looking forward to working with her administration to modernize the tax code and reform the state tax system to empower the small business community and encourage job growth and prosperity.

We look forward to the results of the state’s analysis of the tax code and further information on improving small business owners access to affordable healthcare. Implementing the ideas that the Governor put forth today will ensure that Iowa improves its business climate and makes us more competitive and our hope is the legislature will support her initiatives as much as the small business community does.
