NFIB encourages Gov. DeWine to sign SB 9 into law quickly
Following the Ohio Senate’s passage of Senate Bill 9, NFIB State Director Jared Weiser commends lawmakers for advancing the significant piece of legislation, including the emergency clause, and providing small business owners with the certainty they need for the tax filing season:
“Small business owners have routinely ranked taxes as a top concern on both the federal and state levels, and SB 9 will provide clarity for owners as it aligns Ohio’s tax code with the federal tax provisions included in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” said Weiser. “Ohio’s small businesses depend on a predictable tax structure for their success, and by including the emergency clause in SB 9, it will allow small employers to properly file for tax year 2025. We thank the Legislature for their commitment to Ohio’s small business community and encourage Governor DeWine to quickly sign SB 9 into law.”
NFIB published an impact sheet highlighting the benefits of the 20% Small Business Deduction for small businesses and Ohio’s economy in general. Ohio will see a $2.2 billion increase in the state’s GDP each year for the next 10 years now that the deduction is permanent.
