Small Businesses Urge Pro-Growth Policies During 2026 Legislative Session

January 6, 2026

The 2026 General Assembly session begins today

As the 2026 legislative session begins in Harrisburg, NFIB Pennsylvania State Director Greg Moreland reminds lawmakers of the importance of pro-small business legislation and avoiding additional regulations and costs on the small business community.

“While lawmakers return to the Capitol today, Pennsylvania small business owners are working hard to be successful despite the various economic and hiring challenges they’re facing. Pennsylvania legislators have an opportunity in 2026 to help ease these burdens on Main Street,” said Moreland. “NFIB has identified several small business issues for the General Assembly to make positive change on, and we are hopeful legislators prioritize the small business community this legislative session.”

NFIB is focusing on several legislative priorities this year, including:

  1. Repealing the accelerated sales tax prepayments
  2. Sales tax collection/remittance discount
  3. Regulatory reform and transparency in permitting
  4. Website ADA compliance legislation
  5. Apprenticeship ratios modification
  6. PA bankruptcy – Homestead exemption legislation
  7. Unemployment compensation reform
  8. Inheritance tax reform
  9. Net operating losses for pass-through entities
  10. Title 66 protection
