Efficiency Utility Is Developing New Three-Year Plan
Efficiency Vermont, the state-created provider of energy efficiency products, services, rebates, and financing, is asking for the public’s feedback on its next Demand Resource Plan. This plan will guide how the utility allocates funding over the next three years.
This survey is your chance to tell Efficiency Vermont to keep their eye on the ball and make sure small businesses get the help they need to reduce their energy bills.

Efficiency Vermont is funded by state fees on your electric bills (“Energy Efficiency Charge”), revenue from regional utility auctions, and occasional one-time state or federal money.
It’s important for small business owners to make their voices heard. If Efficiency Vermont can do more to help your small business, this is the way to let them know. It’s YOUR money at stake.
There is always political pressure at the State House to divert Efficiency Vermont’s mission away from helping business owners reduce their energy bills into less cost-effective projects.
And some are trying to change Efficiency Vermont from a program that primarily exists to lower your bills by reducing electricity use into a program that will actually cost you more by encouraging greater consumption of electricity.
This would result in a more inefficient, expensive program that would further strain to an already overworked electric grid. A recent independent analysis of regional alternative energy mandates estimates that New England electric bills will increase by $815 billion over the next 25 years. That report found the average customer will see major increases every year:
Residential: +$100 per year (total: +$2,574)
Commercial: +$490 per year (total: +$12,726)
Industrial: +$5,280 per year (total: +$137,275)
