>>>>> Tell your lawmakers to give small businesses a break: NFIB | Stop Main Street Tax Hikes

Small businesses like yours are the backbone of Vermont’s economy, but high taxes, red tape, worker shortages, and other challenges don’t make it easy. Now, the state is facing another massive property tax hike, and some lawmakers want to double your business taxes. Tell key lawmakers to give small businesses a break – not higher taxes.

BACKGROUND

SUPPORT – Property Tax Relief

Governor Scott has called for lawmakers to use existing funds to buy down the 12% statewide property tax hike. And lawmakers are also calling for a capping future tax increases until spending is under control.

OPPOSE – Higher Small Business Taxes

State lawmakers are plotting new ways to hike taxes on small businesses and make it harder to invest in Vermont. This includes a new 4% tax on capital gains and other investment income and potentially doubling the state’s top income tax rate for all small pass-through businesses.
