Vice President Jeff Brabant discusses the razor-thin U.S. House vote on the legislation containing the Small Business Deduction
“It was razon thin, very close, but it’s a huge deal for small businesses.”
So said Jeff Brabant, NFIB vice president for federal government relations, on the Mottek on Money show on KABC Radio in Los Angeles, May 22, about the 215-to-214 passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (H.R. 1) in the U.S. House that same day.
NFIB is leading the fight to prevent the 20% Small Business Deduction from expiring at the end of the year.
“The bill they’re calling the ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ contains not only permanence with this provision, so you allow small businesses to compete with their rivals, but it’s also going to increase the provision from a 20% deduction to a 23% deduction, so Congress is trying to give small businesses a leg up and trying to make them a little more competitive with their larger rivals.”
Brabant and host Frank Mottek also discuss the Act’s upcoming journey through the U.S. Senate and current economic conditions in the five-minute interview, which can be heard by clicking the link above or the arrow below.
