NFIB’s Response to Governor Reeves’ State of the State Address

NFIB’s Response to Governor Reeves’ State of the State Address

January 9, 2024 Last Edit: July 20, 2024

Our members were encouraged by the governor's commitment to reduced taxes on small business.

NFIB State Director Dawn McVea released the following statement today in response to Gov. Tate Reeves’ State of the State address:

“Our members were encouraged by Governor Reeves’s pledge to continue working on tax cuts for small businesses. The December NFIB Optimism Index, released this morning, highlights Main Street’s frustration with rising prices. The survey shows the No. 1 issue facing America’s small businesses right now is inflation. Inflation continues to drive up the cost of doing business, and it erodes the buying power of Mississippi’s families.

“We look forward to working with Governor Reeves and legislative leaders this session on measures that relieve some of the financial pressure on small businesses by easing their tax burden.”
