Rep. Tony Gonzales Discusses Labor and Supply Challenges with Alpine Small Businesses

In mid-March, Guardian of Small Business Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-Texas) traveled to Alpine, Texas where he met with NFIB-member small business owners Freda and Mike Powers. During the visit, the Powers talked about the challenges posed by the ongoing labor shortage and persistent supply chain disruptions. Following the visit with the Powers, Rep. Gonzales met with Jill Jahn at Highland Drug – the only pharmacy within 65 miles of Alpine. Not only is Jill battling labor and supply shortages – but medication shortages as well. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to meet with Congressman Gonzales and share my concerns,” Jahn said. “I hope more folks in Washington, D.C. will understand how difficult it is for us to keep our doors open in this economy – and not do anything that would make it worse.” As the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, NFIB will continue to engage lawmakers on the issues most important to our local job creators.
