Expresses Concerns with the Senate and Governor’s Budget

NFIB Michigan State Director Amanda Fisher praised the Michigan House for passing a budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year that continues to rein in spending and eliminate government waste.

“We are heartened to see that the work started in last year’s budget of ferreting out waste and streamlining government services has continued. We appreciate Speaker Hall and House Appropriation Chair Bollin’s commitment to fiscal stewardship of taxpayer dollars and support their continued efforts to appropriately balance the needed services provided by state government with taxpayer accountability,” said NFIB State Director Amanda Fisher.

This is in sharp contrast to budgets put forth by the Governor and the State Senate that increase spending through taxes, fees, and raiding the Rainy-Day Fund. “It is important for all lawmakers to remember that the dollars they are spending are those that were earned by the hard-working citizens, including small businesses, of Michigan. Every dollar they spend comes out of taxpayers’ pockets,” continued Fisher.

“We hope that when the budget is completed, it will retain the cuts and cost-saving measures passed by the Majority in the State House.”
