NFIB Urges Oklahoma Lawmakers to Consider Small Business Priorities in 59th Legislative Session

OKLAHOMA CITY (Feb. 6, 2023) – With the Oklahoma Legislature gaveling into session today, NFIB State Director Jerrod Shouse issued the following statement: “As the engine that drives our economy, small businesses are excited to welcome the Legislature back to Oklahoma City. Common sense, pro-growth policies have unbridled the entrepreneurial spirit here in Oklahoma. But with 40-year high inflation, a persistent worker shortage, and a recession on the horizon, Main Street is struggling. We look forward to working with lawmakers and Governor Stitt to ensure small businesses can continue doing what they do best: meeting their customers’ needs and creating good-paying jobs for Oklahomans.” Background: According to NFIB’s monthly jobs report, 57% of owners reported hiring or trying to hire in January. This comes amid a recent NFIB survey that found more than half of all small business owners anticipate worsening conditions over the next six months.. CLICK HERE to read the full report.
