Colorado Job Creators to General Assembly: Cut Property Taxes Now

DENVER (Aug. 26, 2024) – Ahead of the General Assembly’s special session to address property taxes, NFIB State Director Tony Gagliardi called on lawmakers to swiftly approve the compromise agreement and send it to Governor Polis’ desk for signature. “Between rising property taxes and soaring business costs, there is enough uncertainty to keep small business owners awake at night. Colorado taxpayers need greater predictability in our property tax system. The compromise agreement reached between Governor Polis, Sen. Barbara Kirkmeyer, Sen. Chris Hansen, Rep. Julie McCluski, and Rep. Rose Pugliese, and the business community does just that. By cutting taxes and imposing strong caps on property tax growth, this agreement is an important first step in reining in Colorado’s property taxes. On behalf of small business owners across the state, I ask lawmakers to swiftly approve the measure and send it to the Governor’s desk for signature.”
