Governor Greg Abbott (R) has taken executive actions which do the following:
Implements Phase II of the state reopening. The order reopens child care centers; tattoo parlors; and the like may reopen May 18. Restaurants may operate at 50% capacity and bars may operate at 25% capacity beginning May 22. Rodeo events; bowling alleys; bingo halls; simulcast tracing; zoos; and more may reopen May 22. Sporting events without fans and youth camps may reopen May 29. Opened services and activities under Phase II are subject to certain occupancy limits and health and safety protocols. Certain counties experiencing surges in COVID-19 cases will have their beginning date of Phase II delayed until May 29. These counties include El Paso, Randall, Potter, Moore, and Deaf Smith.
Rescinds all air travel restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Temporary quarantines for air travelers arriving from the following areas of the United States: California; Connecticut; New York; New Jersey; Washington; Atlanta, Georgia; Chicago, Illinois; Detroit, Michigan; or Miami, Florida are no longer required.
