Learn about small business resources in Illinois
Starting and growing a small business can be challenging, so it can be helpful to be aware of available resources.
Below is a non-exhaustive list of some public resources for small businesses:
Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs)
Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) provide planning assistance and other resources to small businesses. They can be found across the state.
More information about SBDCs can be found here. You can also watch a webinar that NFIB hosted last fall on SBDCs and the First Stop Business Information Center. You can access a recording of the webinar here.
Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Webinars
This year, the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) is hosting webinars throughout the year on capital access for small businesses titled: “Overview of Financial Resources for Small Businesses.” Read more and/or register here.
Business Information Center
The Business Information Center assists businesses in navigating Illinois’ regulatory and permitting requirements. You can read more about the Business Information Center and the resources it provides here.
Chicago Small Business Improvement Fund (SBIF)
Chicago businesses may be eligible for Tax Increment Financing (TIF) grants to help cover building improvement costs. More information about SBIF grants can be found here.
NFIB is a member-driven organization advocating on behalf of small and independent businesses nationwide.
