Is the small business economy finally turning around?
“We call on the General Assembly to restore balance to the Show Me state’s litigation environment by prioritizing tort reform.”
According to the report’s findings:
• Excessive litigation on the St. Louis economy has resulted in a loss of more than 28,800 jobs annually.
• Statewide, that number jumps to more than 62,000 with each Missourian paying a $1,095 “tort tax” each year.

NFIB announced a Key Vote in opposition to Lauren McFerran’s renomination to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
The state ranked 10th on the list in part because of “nuclear verdicts.”
The ranking highlights ongoing problems in its civil justice system that hurt individuals and small businesses.
The state ranked No. 3 on the list because of issues concerning ongoing asbestos litigation.

The NFIB Small Business Optimism Index rose by eight points in November to 101.7, after 34 months of remaining below the 50-year average of 98.
