Small Businesses Support Important Healthcare Legislation

WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 21, 2023) – The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, announced that it will consider H.R. 3799, the CHOICE Arrangement Act, an NFIB Key Vote for the 118^th Congress. NFIB sent a letter to members of the United States House of Representatives supporting the legislation. “Small businesses have long advocated for affordability and flexibility regarding health insurance options,” said Josselin Castillo, NFIB Manager of Federal Government Relations. “For decades, small business owners have ranked the rising cost of health insurance as their top concern. The CHOICE Arrangement Act will significantly help small businesses as it will increase coverage options and lower health insurance costs. We urge the House to pass this important legislation and ask the Senate to do the same.” NFIB recently sent letters of support to the House Committee on Education and Workforce and the House Committee on Ways and Means on key healthcare legislation and the importance of passing legislation that will enhance the flexibility and affordability of healthcare options for small businesses. According to NFIB’s latest health insurance survey, 98% of small business owners cited that their ability to provide health insurance benefits to their employees will become unsustainable in the next 5-10 years. Earlier this month, NFIB joined a coalition letter with other associations asking Congress to improve healthcare options and affordability on Main Street.
