JUNEAU, Alaska, Sept. 4, 2025—The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, sent a letter to U.S. Representative Nicholas J. Begich III (AL-At Large) and the US. House of Representatives in support of H.J. Res. 106, which would repeal a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) rule that significantly restricted energy development in Alaska.

“Small business owners regularly cite the energy costs as a top business concern,” said Thor Stacey, NFIB Alaska State Director. “Repealing this rule will provide the opportunity for more energy production in Alaska, which will create jobs, lower energy costs, and invigorate the economy. NFIB supports repealing this burdensome rule”

According to a recent NFIB survey, the cost of natural gas, propane, gasoline, diesel, and fuel oil is ranked as the 6th most pressing issue for small businesses nationwide. In a recent NFIB member ballot, 88% of NFIB members agreed that Congress should “streamline regulations to facilitate the production and transport of oil, natural gas, and other energy sources in the United States.”
