Bill to Stop ADA Lawsuit Abuse Heads to Governor’s Desk

The General Assembly unanimously approved SB 907, a bill that will protect Missouri's small businesses from predatory trial attorneys

JEFFERSON CITY (April 21, 2026) – Following the General Assembly’s final passage of SB 907, which will provide much-needed relief from lawsuit abuse for Main Street Missourians, NFIB State Director Brad Jones thanked lawmakers for their efforts on behalf of small business owners.

“For too long, Main Street Missourians have become the target of frivolous lawsuits, with predatory trial attorneys demanding thousands of dollars in settlements. This has left small businesses scrambling to avoid mounting costs and protect their good name. This is a commonsense reform to allow small business owners the opportunity to resolve alleged issues with their websites before settling. On behalf of our members, we thank the General Assembly, as well as Sen. Brad Hudson and Rep. Brian Seitz for their efforts in getting SB 907 through to the finish line. We look forward to a speedy signature from Governor Kehoe.”

Background:

The Kansas City Star published an op-ed from Jones urging the Senate to quickly advance SB 907. This comes after NFIB released new paid radio advertisements, urging the General Assembly to protect small businesses.

In February, the Missouri House unanimously advanced a reform to safeguard small businesses from lawsuit abuse.
