With the holiday shopping season in full swing, KLKN’s Veronica Barreto spoke with NFIB Member Seth Meranda, owner of White or Wheat Sandwich Shoppe in Lincoln on the importance of supporting local businesses.

“The holidays are an extremely important part of, not only our business, but small businesses around the area,” Meranda said. “It’s a great opportunity for families to come out and enjoy what Lincoln has to offer. We’re all part of the same community. We employ the same Lincoln people; we serve the same Lincoln people. It’s a great way for every one of us just work together.”

Barreto also spoke with NFIB State Director Bob Hallstrom who reminded viewers that shopping small benefits the local economy.

“It gets them started and gets them jump-started into the new year,” Hallstrom said. “When you look at your small businesses on Main Street, they are your local friends, folks that you go to church with. They plow money back into the economy; they provide funding for the schools and the kids.”
