WATCH: Cities & Counties Retain Local Control Under HB 2127

AUSTIN (May 17, 2023) – Following the Senate’s passage of the Texas Regulatory Consistency Act, NFIB State Director Annie Spilman spoke with CBS Austin’s Michael Adkison. During the conversation, Spilman reiterated that the bill ensures cities and counties retain their authority to address local concerns, while providing local job creators relief from ordinances that affect their business and go beyond state and federal law. “We’ve never seen cities step into the realms that they have been stepping into,” Spilman said. “About 99.9% of what cities and counties have done, they will continue to retain.” CLICK HERE to watch the interview. Background: The Texas Regulatory Consistency Act was approved by the House on a bipartisan basis in April, before passing the Senate this week.
