Support More Affordable Options and Greater Transparency
Health insurance coverage has been a top concern for small business owners for 40 years. In NFIB surveys, 98% of small business owners who offer employee coverage are worried it’ll become unaffordable within five years.
While large corporations get special rules and breaks for health insurance, small businesses, workers, and families are facing massive premium increases this year.
New proposals at the New Hampshire Legislature would increase transparency in healthcare spending and improve affordable options for you and your employees.
Lawmakers will be voting on these proposals THIS MONTH.

BACKGROUND:
Lawmakers are considering new proposals to increase transparency and improve affordable health insurance options.
SB 607: makes it easier for people to buy and keep short-term health insurance plans. These plans are more affordable and flexible, and can cost as much as 75% less than other plans. In other states, they are an important coverage option for younger workers, employees who are in their 50s and early 60s, those between jobs or striking out on their own, and others who are priced out of the traditional health insurance market.
SB 635: A $600/employee tax incentive to help small employers offer health benefits to their employees through an ICHRA or QSEHRA. These accounts give small businesses a fixed cost health benefit option and allow employees to use funds on medical expenses and insurance premiums. Unused funds stay with the employer, employees get access to lower priced individual market coverage, and the plan stays with the employee. It’s a win-win.
Increased Transparency: Requires insurance companies and large hospitals to post and regularly update their pricing in an understandable form so normal people can see what services will cost. This helps people find the best value and budget for medical services.
No one idea will fix our broken healthcare system, but we know small employers and employees need more affordable options.
