Virginia NFIB PAC Endorses Jed Arnold for House of Delegates

The political action committee for Virginia’s largest and leading small-business association today announced its endorsement of Jed Arnold for Virginia House of Delegates in the 6^th District. The NFIB Virginia PAC is comprised solely of NFIB members from throughout the state. Voters in the 6^th District will have the opportunity to vote on August 29^th to fill the seat after Delegate Jeff Campbell vacated the seat for a judicial appointment.

“Jed Arnold has the right experience, values and solutions to keep our state on track,” said Julia Hammond, NFIB State Director in Virginia. “Main Street needs a defender who will make our state a better place to grow a business and raise a family. They want certainty during these uncertain economic times and are confident that Jed Arnold understands the challenges they face coming out of the pandemic: inflation, supply chain issues, and problems hiring and retaining workers to name a few. While Virginia’s economy is getting back on track, gaining back 50% of the 400,000 jobs lost during COVID-19, the budget debate is ongoing with no signs of compromise. We need candidates like Jed to help pass this crucial piece of legislation.” Small businesses were encouraged and NFIB applauded Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s budget proposal earlier this year, which called for $1 billion in tax cuts for residents and small businesses. Included was lowering the corporate income tax rate from 6% to 5%, raises the standard deduction for individual filers, and provides a 10% tax credit to small businesses in Virginia. The House passed the bill, but the Senate rejected it. The Sixth District is composed of the counties of Carroll, Wythe and portions of Smyth County. Campbell resigned from the House of Delegates in July. The winner of the called Special Election will serve the remainder of Campbell’s term which expires on January 10, 2024. Candidates are evaluated based on their responses to key small business issues, as determined by NFIB Virginia members. NFIB’s national membership spans the spectrum of business operations, ranging from sole proprietor enterprises to firms with hundreds of employees. While there is no standard definition of a small business, the typical NFIB member employs 10 people and reports gross sales of about $500,000 a year.
