Bill empowers employers with resources to enhance employee training and education.

UpSkill Bill Becomes Law

Earlier this month, Governor Mike Parson signed HB 417, also known as the Upskill Bill, into law. The bill provides grants for employees to enhance their training or education.

Upon the bill becoming law, NFIB State Director Brad Jones said:

“In this difficult environment, ensuring our small businesses have the tools at their disposal to compete is essential to their survival. As qualified applicants remain in short supply, this bill will help our local job creators keep up with technology and enhance the opportunities of their employees.”

With a recent NFIB jobs report finding that 42 percent of owners reporting job openings they couldn’t fill, this bill will be especially important in bolstering the workforce.
