STATEMENT: Suspending Fuel Tax Would Help Small Businesses

NFIB State Director Nathan Humphrey released the following statement after the House and Senate approved a bill to suspend Georgia’s fuel tax:

“This is going to bring immediate financial relief to small businesses already struggling with soaring inflation, supply chain disruptions, and labor challenges. Here in Georgia, we’re paying about 87 cents per gallon more at the pump today than we were a month ago, and that means it costs more to have goods shipped in and more for businesses to reach their customers.

“Our members realize this isn’t a permanent solution and addresses only one of the factors affecting costs, but it’s going to make a big difference, and we thank Governor Kemp and legislative leaders for acting so quickly to ease the financial pressure on small businesses throughout the state.”
