Small Business Response to President Biden’s State of the Union

NFIB calls on President Biden, Congress to make the Small Business Deduction permanent

WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 7, 2024) – The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, issued the following statement in response to President Biden’s State of the Union address:

“During these challenging economic times, small businesses have continued to create new jobs and be the engine of the economy,” said Brad Close, NFIB President. “But to truly fuel the economy, Congress and the administration need to stop a looming tax hike on small employers by passing the Main Street Tax Certainty Act, a top priority for small businesses as it would make the Small Business Deduction permanent. Washington should focus on policies that reduce government red tape and promote those that would ignite economic growth, allowing small business owners to raise wages, hire new employees, and invest in their local communities.”

NFIB recently released a “Top 10 Policy Priorities for 2024” that explains the most significant policy issues facing small businesses today and what Congress can do to elevate those issues.
