Raise the Wage Legislation Introduced

Raise the Wage Legislation Introduced

March 5, 2024 Last Edit: July 25, 2024

NFIB Wisconsin will oppose passage of both proposals to raise the minimum wage.

Legislation that would increase Wisconsin’s minimum wage rate to $15/hr. is being introduced (LRB-5704) by Representative Lisa Subeck (Madison).  The Representative is proposing a two-step process that would increase the current minimum wage rate to $10.85/hr. followed by a second increase one year later to $15/hr.

The legislation also includes a provision that would increase the minimum wage rate every year based on the Consumer Price Index.  In addition, Representative Subeck’s proposal would repeal a provision in current law that prohibits cities, villages, towns, and counties from enacting and administering local minimum wages.

Companion legislation is being introduced in the State Senate by Senator Melissa Agard (Madison).

NFIB will oppose passage of both proposals.
