Oklahoma Small Businesses Applauds Governor for Commitment to Small Business Issues

NFIB, or the National Federation of Independent Business, applauded Gov. Kevin Stitt for his leadership and commitment to small business issues in his 2021 State of the State address.

“Thanks to Gov. Stitt, Oklahoma is in a much better fiscal situation than most other states across the country, said Jerrod Shouse, NFIB State Director in Oklahoma. “Gov. Stitt was able to keep most of our small businesses open as other states shut down completely. Oklahoma was also able to balance the need for health and safety with small business owners’ need to provide for their families and their employees.”

Through the Governor’s Oklahoma Business Relief Program, 100,000 more Oklahomans were back at work more quickly compared to the national average. Under Gov. Stitt’s administration, small business owners here in Oklahoma received $143 million in 344 communities and all 77 counties in Oklahoma.

This afternoon, Gov. Stitt underscored his commitment to issues that small business owners are passionate about: making Oklahoma a Top Ten State for business by adding more taxpayers and not more taxes. Gov. Stitt also committed to cutting red tape and getting rid of excessive regulations. NFIB applauds Gov. Stitt’s commitment to not let government stand in the way of small business owners desire to hire more workers and keep Oklahoma’s economy running.

“I know so many of you watching believe we can be and should be a Top Ten State for Business. I’m proud to say the Oklahoma is open for business, and we’re seeing the results,” said Gov. Kevin Stitt.

NFIB State Director Jerrod Shouse points out that 99.4% of all businesses in Oklahoma are small businesses and employ 712,000 people in our state.
