NFIB's Virtual Maine Small Business Day a Great Success

NFIB in Maine’s 2023 Small Business Day, hosted virtually on March 15th, was “standing room only” once again as small business owners from around the Pine Tree State discussed the issues most important to their businesses with State Director David Clough and Governor Janet Mills. 2023 is an important year for Maine’s small business owners. With single-party control in the capital, lawmakers need to hear from Main Street job creators more than ever on how to best jumpstart economic recovery. To that end, Clough directed an informative discussion with NFIB members to ensure that the Voice of Small Business is well-informed and heard in Augusta. The event, which was free for members and guests, included the state director’s overview of NFIB’s legislative priorities in the legislature, a briefing on federal issues by NFIB Vice President of Federal Government Relations Kevin Kuhlman, as well as instruction on how small-business owners can influence policy in Maine to help your business succeed. The issues discussed included the looming paid family and medical leave mandate, taxes, healthcare costs, Just Cause Dismissal and other labor issues, and energy costs and rate regulation. For the second year in a row, Gov. Mills addressed NFIB members on the issues and activity in the capital and sat for Q&A with Small Business Day participants.

The meeting is now available for members and small business allies to watch:
