NFIB Statement on Easing of COVID-19 Restrictions on Small Businesses

NFIB State Director Dawn Starns McVea released the following statement on Gov. John Bel Edwards’ announcement about the next phase in the process of reopening the Louisiana economy:

“Our small business members are breathing a sigh of relief over Governor Edwards’ decision to adjust Phase 3. This is going to make it easier for restaurants and bars to operate, but we are disappointed by the arbitrary limits the governor continues to impose on things like how late bars can stay open. The guidelines that keep customers safe at 10:59 p.m. are just as effective at 11:01.

“Seemingly random rules like that combined with the governor’s push to raise the state’s minimum wage dampen the outlook for a speedy recovery of Louisiana’s economy.”
