Owners engaged with elected leaders on key issues affecting Tennessee's job creators

NFIB members met with Lt Gov Randy McNally as part of the 2026 Small Business Day

NFIB members from across the state gathered in Nashville today for Small Business Day at the Capitol.

The annual event gives small business owners a chance to connect with one another and engage with elected leaders on a host of important issues, NFIB State Director Jim Brown said.

Small business owners who attended this year’s event include Deeannah Seymour, CEO of pH-D Feminine Health, an NFIB member business in Nashville.

Issues on this year’s agenda included

  • SB 32/HB 477, which is being amended to extend bonus depreciation as allowed by the federal One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
  • HB 189/SB 397, which would eliminate the $400 professional privilege tax on a few remaining professions, including investment brokers and attorneys.

Longer term, NFIB members spoke in favor of simplifying the state business tax and additional reforms to the tangible personal property tax.

The agenda including meetings with Lt. Gov. Randy McNally and Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson and House Majority Leader William Lamberth, both of whom are NFIB members.

“I want to thank all of the members who attended this year’s event,” Brown said. “Coming to Small Business Day goes a long way toward advancing NFIB’s agenda by showing legislators how their policies affect real people.”
