Small business owners gathered in Topeka to make their voices heard in the Kansas Legislature
Last week, NFIB State Director Dan Murray hosted the 2026 Small Business Day. There, local job creators heard remarks from Senate President Ty Masterson, Speaker of the House Dan Hawkins, and House Commerce, Labor, and Economic Development Chair Sean Tarwater.
This was an opportunity for NFIB members to engage their lawmakers on the issues that matter most to them, including unemployment insurance reform, lawsuit abuse, and property tax relief.
Finally, NFIB members had the opportunity to visit the floor of the House of Representatives, where they were recognized.
“Having our members here in Topeka to share their stories always makes a big impact,” Murray said. “It’s an important opportunity for lawmakers to better understand how the policy proposals they’re considering will affect Main Street Kansans.”
