NFIB’s statement on the start of session

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), Indiana’s leading small business advocacy organization, released the following statement from NFIB Indiana State Director Natalie Robinson ahead of the Indiana General Assembly convening:

“As the Indiana General Assembly convenes in Indianapolis, small businesses encourage the Legislature to continue passing pro-small business policies to keep Indiana a great state to own and operate a small business. Our small businesses benefit from policies that ignite economic growth and keep costly mandates at a minimum. We look forward to working with members of the Indiana Legislature and Governor-elect Braun this session.”

NFIB identified 5 top small business policy priorities for this legislative session:
• Prevent tax increases on small businesses
• Reduce small business health care costs and burdens
• Prevent energy costs from increasing on small businesses
• Stop new transportation funding fees from being imposed on small employers
• End unnecessary, burdensome regulations for entrepreneurs and innovators

NFIB’s latest research shows that small business optimism rose to the highest reading since June 2021 in December following the election. The net percent of small business owners expecting the economy to improve rose 41 points from October to a net 36%, the highest since June 2020.
