NFIB Awards Rep. Markwayne Mullin Guardian of Small Business Award

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Sept. 14, 2022) – The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, awarded Rep. Markwayne Mullin with the Guardian of Small Business Award, NFIB’s most prestigious legislative recognition. “Congressman Markwayne Mullin is an unwavering supporter of small business,” said Jerrod Shouse, NFIB Oklahoma State Director. “He has been an important voice for Oklahoma’s small businesses in Congress and has voted consistently with them in mind. We are proud to present him with this award today.” “It’s an honor to accept the Guardian of Small Business Award,” said Congressman Markwayne Mullin. “Ninety-nine percent of businesses in my state are small businesses, and it’s a privilege to fight in Washington every day on their behalf. As small business owners and operators for 25 years, Christie and I know firsthand what it is like to deal with burdensome regulation and bureaucratic red tape. I want to thank the National Federation of Independent Business for this recognition and the amazing work they do for small businesses across the nation.” “NFIB awards the Guardian of Small Business Award to Members of Congress who have proven to be real champions of small businesses,” said Brad Close, NFIB President and CEO. “Congressman Mullin has been a reliable voice for small businesses in Washington, earning a 100% NFIB voting record for the 117th Congress. He has supported pro-growth policies such as the Paycheck Protection Act Extension Act of 2021 and has opposed legislation that would be detrimental to the small business economy like the Raise the Wage Act and the PRO Act of 2021. We are pleased to name Congressman Markwayne Mullin a Guardian of Small Business today. Find a complete list of the NFIB Guardian of Small Business Award recipients from the 117th Congress, please click here. NFIB’s Guardian of Small Business Award is reserved for lawmakers who vote consistently with small businesses on key issues identified by small business owners. Those who voted with small business on key issues 70% or more of the time during the 117th Congress earned the NFIB Guardian of Small Business Award. NFIB informs lawmakers in advance which votes will be considered NFIB Key Votes and asks lawmakers to support the consensus views of our members. We also remind them that the results will be reported back to the NFIB membership.
