Maryland Remains Towards Bottom for Property Tax

The Tax Foundation recently published its state rankings based on property taxes. While Maryland moved up one spot in the rankings, it still comes in at 42nd out of 50. The Foundation evaluated state and local taxes on real and personal property, net worth, and asset transfers. Property taxes are particularly important to small business owners as they are usually levied on machinery, equipment, and office furniture in addition to land and buildings owned and operated by the business. NFIB continues to fight for property tax relief in Annapolis as state and local governments look for ways to attract businesses. For more information on NFIB’s tax efforts in Maryland, please reach out to Maryland State Director Mike O’Halloran.
