Make Your Voice Heard: Colorado’s Workers’ Comp Reform

September 19, 2025

The Division of Workers’ Compensation (DOWC) is hosting three virtual listening sessions on HB 1300, Colorado’s recent reform of workers’ comp.

Despite NFIB‘s opposition during the Colorado General Assembly’s 2025 regular session, Governor Jared Polis signed HB 1300 into law, a bill that upends the state’s current effective workers’ compensation program. The law takes effect in 2028.

When Governor Polis signed the law, he announced his intention to create a working group to address his and the business community’s concerns with HB 1300.

The Division of Workers’ Compensation (DOWC) is hosting three virtual listening sessions on HB 1300. These are opportunities for you to make your voice heard. Advance registration is required.

Details from the DOWC are below. CLICK HERE to register.

Session 1: October 8, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. MT

This session will explore whether in-house clinics that employ Level 1 and 2 accredited physicians can treat injured workers. It will also review the options available for employers and insurers in providing lists of recommended Level 1 or Level 2 accredited physicians.

Session 2: October 22, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. MT

This session will discuss updates on the DOWC provider directory and identify the types of providers that can be designated. It will also examine the accreditation process for providers, including how the DOWC monitors their licenses and malpractice status.

Session 3: November 5, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. MT

This session will address the implications of the premium credit referenced in the Division of Insurance’s Amended Regulation 5-1-11 Section 5(E). It will also review timelines related to designating and changing physicians to ensure that workers receive timely care. Session 3 will conclude with an open discussion on effective strategies to reduce costs for all parties.
