Kansas Small Business Owners Thank Senator Marshall for New Bill That Would ‘Save Main Street Millions’

TOPEKA (June 26, 2023) – The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, today announced a paid advertising campaign, including radio and digital ads, thanking Senator Roger Marshall for introducing the Credit Card Competition Act of 2023, a bipartisan and bicameral bill that would provide much-needed competition in the credit card processing market. CLICK HERE to listen to the radio ad. “Kansas small businesses have faced enormous challenges in the past few years,” NFIB State Director Dan Murray said. “Skyrocketing credit card fees are just one of the headwinds our small business owners face. But Sen. Roger Marshall is standing up for Main Street against Wall Street. The Credit Card Competition Act would save small business owners money and help them create more jobs.” Background: The Credit Card Competition Act would require credit card companies to offer at least two networks on each credit card, providing much-needed competition in the credit card processing market. In a recent op-ed for The Emporia Gazette, Murray described how swipe fees cut a small business owner in Auburn’s profit margin in half. Murray also joined The Eagle in Hutchinson and AgriTalk radio to discuss small business owners’ support for the bill.
