Illinois’ minimum wage climbed to $14 an hour on January 1, up $1 from the 2023 minimum wage.
Illinois’ minimum wage climbed to $14 an hour on January 1, up $1 from the 2023 minimum wage.
The minimum wage for tipped workers rose from $7.80/hour to $8.40/hour and the minimum wage for youths under 18 jumped from $10.50/hour to $12/hour.
These hikes are in accordance with Public Act 101-001, which passed the Illinois General Assembly in 2019.
Per the act, Illinois’ minimum wage will jump further on January 1, 2025, hitting $15/hour for non-tipped workers 18 or older, $9/hour for tipped workers, and $13 for youths under 18.
