ICYMI: Small Business Perspective on the 2023 General Assembly Session

NFIB State Director Brad Jones spoke with St. Louis Record’s Juliette Fairley on the end of the General Assembly’s 2023 legislative session. When asked about the state budget, Jones said: “Unfortunately, small businesses didn’t win the popularity contest when it came to the state budget. With the state being flush with revenue, it seems like it would have been a good time to lower the tax rate for our job creators.” During their conversation, Jones also discussed why the bar should be raised to change Missouri’s constitution, saying: “We’ve been at 50% for a pretty long time on passing constitutional amendments and that’s what the problem is. The legislature is treating the Constitution like it’s a statute.
