Here's What Tuesday's Election Means to Small Businesses in Texas

As of Wednesday morning, the votes were still being counted, but there will be little change in the makeup of the Texas Legislature and Congressional Delegation heading into 2025. NFIB had a very successful election night in Texas, with pro-small business candidates overwhelmingly elected to serve in Washington, D.C. and in Austin. Of NFIB’s 111 endorsed candidates, 109 were successful.

“Small businesses are the foundation of our state’s economy,” NFIB State Director Jeff Burdett said. “Between rising costs, a workforce shortage, and economic uncertainty, it’s never been more important to have strong champions of Main Street in Austin. I’m grateful Texas voters understood that message and threw their support behind candidates who stand for small business.”

U.S. House

Of the 23 NFIB Fed PAC endorsed candidates, 22 won. Of note, the Associated Press called the 15th Congressional District race for Rep. Monica De La Cruz and the 26th Congressional District race for Brandon Gill.

U.S. Senate

The Associated Press has called the U.S. Senate race for NFIB Fed PAC endorsed candidate Sen. Ted Cruz. With 99% of votes counted by Wednesday morning, he led Democratic challenger Rep. Collin Allred with 53.2% of the total.
