Gov. Youngkin Thanks NFIB as Part of Virginia's Job Growth

Governor Youngkin mentioned NFIB in his speech during his annoucement of Virginia’s job growth.
NFIB member Jim Wilson drove from Richmond to listen to the Governor’s update. Wilson is the founder and owner of his small business law firm practice, Wilson Law Group. “Governor Youngkin was happy to announce that the Commonwealth had reached half of the goal of 400,000 in less than a year of his administration. The Governor noted that the persistence of small businesses and his administration’s support had made it easier for businesses to get back in the saddle after COVID. NFIB members were there in strong numbers to hear the announcement, and, as always, it was good to see my fellow members. Unlike an organization that is tied to a single profession or industry, NFIB members come from a variety of industries and businesses which makes for a varied perspective on issues affecting businesses. It was good to participate in the Governor’s announcement of achieving this milestone for Virginia,” said Wilson. In June alone, 23,000 Virginians were employed for a total of more than 200,000 since January 2022. More good news: the Commonwealth’s unemployment rate declined from 2.9 percent in May to 2.7 percent in June. That’s below the national rate which sits at 3.6 percent. “Virginians are back to work, with 200,000 more people working and the largest labor force in nearly 50 years,” said Governor Glenn Youngkin. “Virginia’s unemployment rate fell to its lowest level in nearly a year while more and more people are joining the labor force. Virginia’s economy continues to show positive growth and, as we accelerate talent development, bring down the cost of living and become even more business friendly, we can grow even more.” You can watch news coverage of the event here.
