COVID-19 Liability Protection Bill Clears General Assembly, Heads to Governor

NFIB State Director Nathan Humphrey released the following statement today on House Bill 112, which passed the Senate by a vote of 36-17:

“This is great news for Georgia’s small businesses because HB112 extends the sunset on the COVID-19 liability protections for another year. HB112 gives employers the confidence to open and run their business without fear that the coronavirus can be weaponized in the form of frivolous lawsuits.

“Under the bill, bad actors would be held liable if they willfully ignore the government’s guidelines, but small businesses that follow the rules and take steps to protect their customers and employees from the deadly coronavirus should be protected from groundless claims.”
