The measures are now working their way through the Alabama Senate

The Alabama House of Representatives recently passed two bills strongly recommended by the NFIB Tax Advisory Committee.

House Bill 230, sponsored by Rep. Margie Wilcox (Mobile) and Rep. Kerry Underwood (Tuscumbia) passed the House on March 19 on a vote of 100-0. The measure would repeal the annual corporate report filed with the Alabama Secretary of State effecting Oct. 1. The measure is pending in the Senate Fiscal Responsibility and Economic Development Committee.

The House also approved House Bill 187, sponsored by Rep. David Faulkner (Birmingham). The bill would let pass-through entities file their paperwork at the same time they file the annual return. The consolidation of filing two forms at the same time reduces paperwork and accounting fees. HB187 is awaiting action in the Senate Finance and Taxation Education Committee.
