Primary Election Day

Knowledge of the issues is the surest way to win the support of Main Street for the candidates you’re backing

Primary Election Day in Alaska is August 20.

“A Nonpartisan Pick One Primary is used to determine the top four vote getters that will advance to the General Election, regardless of political affiliation,” according to the Alaska Division of Elections. “In accordance with Alaska’s laws, a primary election candidate does not have to be a member of a political party or a political group to run for office.”

It has been a big part of NFIB’s educational mission for 80 years to remind policymakers that small businesses are not smaller versions of big business. They have a much more difficult time than big businesses do in keeping their doors open. The following links provide brief information that NFIB Alaska, the state’s largest and leading small business association, recommends every candidate acquaint himself or herself with.

Are you an NFIB member interested in running for office or getting more politically involved? Check out the NFIB Path to Public Service series. This three-session, virtual program is designed to help NFIB members amplify their voices and share their small business expertise in government and political campaigns.
