Legislative wins in Annapolis

Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund Relief

NFIB secured $1.1 billion to replenish the Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund and stave off sustained tax hikes.

4-Day Work Week and Mandatory Seating

NFIB spearheaded efforts to defeat a bill using taxpayer dollars to fund a 4-day workweek program (SB197 of 2023) and another bill allowing workers the right to sue over employee seating (HB17 of 2023).

Paid Leave Insurance Regulations

NFIB led the fight to amend Maryland’s paid family and medical leave insurance legislation, so small business owners will not have to pay into the state’s new paid leave program.

Minimum Wage Indexing

NFIB successfully fought off attempts to index the state’s minimum wage to the Consumer Price Index, meaning our representatives will have to vote on future increases (SB555 of 2023).
