Election Recap:  NFIB Iowa Has A Lot To Celebrate

The biggest takeaway from the 2024 Election is that Iowans prefer pro-small business candidates. The NFIB Iowa PAC endorsed 70 candidates who showed commitment to pro-small business policies. Of those 70, 67 candidates won on Election Night. That’s a 96% winning percentage.

“The message was sent loud and clear in Iowa that pro small business candidates are the preferred candidates of the mass majority of the voters,” said NFIB Iowa State Director Matt Everson. “We look forward to working with all legislators next session to continue to find ways to cut the cost of small business by lowering taxes and making it easier for small businesses to run and grow their business by eliminating useless and burdensome government regulations.”

The Iowa House Republicans picked up three seats and will increase their majority to 67-33. The Iowa Senate also increased their Republican majority by one seat and will sit at 35-15.

Federally, Iowa Republicans will hold all four of their congressional seats (Nunn, Miller-Meeks, Hinson, and Feenstra), all of which were endorsed by NFIB. The U.S. House will remain in Republican hands for 2025 with a 221-214 majority.

Although U.S. Senators Grassley and Ernst were not on the ballot in 2024, the U.S. Senate will flip to Republican control with a 53 to 47 majority in 2025.
