Vermont Capitol Update

The pace of action in Montpelier started to pick up in February, with lawmakers introducing hundreds of new bills and committees starting discussions on some of the major issues facing the state. Governor Phil Scott also continued his push to roll back expensive energy mandates, reform school funding, and (hopefully) rein in property tax increases.

Rhode Island Capitol Update

This week, NFIB provided opposition testimony to two pieces of legislation that will impact small businesses on healthcare and energy.

Maine Capitol Update

“NFIB believes lawmakers should follow the budgeting approach used by many small businesses and families, an approach that prioritizes aligning spending with available revenues and income.”

Vermont Capitol Update

In his budget address and other public comments, Governor Phil Scott called on Vermont lawmakers to roll back expensive and controversial parts of recently enacted climate change laws. Specifically, Scott called for eliminating the ability for special interest groups to file lawsuits under the 2020 Global Warming Solutions Act (GWSA).
