Over 100 NFIB members from 32 states attended the annual Washington D.C. Fly-In for two days of advocacy on key small business issues. Members attended sessions on legislative priorities, the political outlook for the upcoming elections, media and advocacy training, and had an opportunity to network with other small business owners.

NFIB’s annual Washington D.C. Fly-In is a chance for small business owners to come to Capitol Hill and meet with their lawmakers to discuss legislation that is impacting their business. There were several sessions on the first day of the event to prepare for the Capitol Hill meetings and learn about other small business priorities in 2024.

• Legislative Briefing and Hill Meeting Roundtables

NFIB’s President Brad Close spoke about the importance of small business owners participating in the Fly-In and sharing their stories with lawmakers. NFIB’s Federal Government Relations team provided information on the Corporate Transparency Act and the Main Street Tax Certainty Act which would stop the Massive Tax Hike on Small Businesses. These were the, top small business priorities of Fly-In.

• Media and Advocacy Training

Special Guest Beverly Hallberg led a session with tips on how to navigate and make the most of the meetings on Capitol Hill.

This interactive, one-on-one session gave small business owners the opportunity to learn more about NFIB’s resources available to help protect their businesses.

• Political Update

Special Guest David Wasserman provided an in-depth and entertaining analysis and breakdown of the upcoming elections and the biggest influences on the outcomes.

U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (TN) and U.S. Representative Lloyd Smucker (PA-11) joined a Q&A session and discussed expectations with the Small Business Deduction, job growth and creation, and building relationships with Members of Congress.

“I saw the impact of federal and state policy on business to grow and expand, so it’s really important we get our policies right,” explained Rep. Smucker.
