NFIB provides Congress with an outline of small business legislative priorities

What it means: NFIB compiled a Growth Agenda listing the top small business priorities to share with the new Congress. Listen to NFIB’s Small Business Rundown podcast to hear more about NFIB’s legislative priorities and what Congress should do first and foremost.

Our take: “It’s going to be very busy and very active. When you see an incoming administration change hands with a new President coming in, Congress and the new administration are going to be very busy trying to pass a lot of priorities – things that were talked about in the election.” – Brad Close, NFIB President

Take Action: Join over 100,000 small business owners fighting to stop the massive tax hike by signing NFIB’s petition urging Congress to make the 20% Small Business Deduction permanent.

NFIB provides a platform for small and independent business owners to have a voice in shaping the public policy issues that affect their business. As a new Congress and Administration take shape, NFIB is providing lawmakers a list of top small business legislative priorities based on what NFIB members voted for in the member ballots.

NFIB’s top legislative priority is stopping a massive tax hike currently set to hit small businesses at the end of the year if the 20% Small Business Tax Deduction expires. This deduction is crucial, and in a recent NFIB Research Center survey, 81% of small business owners believe it is important. The top legislative policies in NFIB’s Growth Agenda include issues about:

  • Taxes
  • Regulations
  • Labor
  • Health care
  • Competition in the marketplace

The full Growth Agenda provides insight into specific legislation that will impact small business. The latest podcast episode “2025 Small Business Growth Policy Priorities” features NFIB President Brad Close and Vice President of Federal Government Relations Jeff Brabant discussing these topics and more!
