It’s Time to Vote Your NFIB Members-Only Federal Ballot

It’s Time to Vote Your NFIB Members-Only Federal Ballot

October 17, 2023

Tell NFIB what policy positions the organization should take on key small business issues

It’s Time to Vote Your NFIB Members-Only Federal Ballot

NFIB recently unveiled the new issues on the members-only Federal Ballot as part of NFIB’s One Member, One Vote program, determining which federal policy positions NFIB should take in advocacy efforts. As a small business owner, now is a critical opportunity to tell NFIB what issues matter most. The newest federal ballot features legislative and regulatory issues at the federal level that are expected to be considered in the coming year. The list includes:
  • Independent Contractor Payment Reporting
  • Energy Restrictions
  • Regulations
  • Generic Prescription Drug Access
  • Research Development Tax Deduction
With a selection of major issues that matter to Main Street, this ballot will drive NFIB’s legislative and regulatory priorities moving forward, and it will help NFIB hold lawmakers accountable for their votes and encourage members of Congress to put the needs of small business first. This ballot is only available to NFIB members.
  • NFIB Members: Log in and fill out your Federal Issue Ballot today.
  • Not an NFIB Member? Join today – and then vote your Ballot.

NFIB wants your vote to determine how to best advocate for independent businesses like yours. NFIB’s member ballot system has been used as a constant and foundational element of our work for 80 years. Every member gets one vote on the issues. No exceptions. This highly democratic system has served small businesses well. NFIB members typically vote on key issues in multiple ballots each year on the federal and state policy positions NFIB should take.

NFIB’s Federal Government Relations team is singularly focused on advancing small business interests in Washington, D.C. If positions on an issue gain significant majority support or opposition, NFIB’s Federal Government Relations team will take those messages to the White House, Congress, and federal agencies. The ballot results also enable NFIB to track how members of Congress vote and which legislation needs to be designated as an NFIB Key Vote in U.S. Congress. NFIB Key Votes are consensus views of small business owners on top legislative priorities. NFIB asks legislators to support legislation that is determined as an NFIB Key Vote and reminds members of Congress their votes are being monitored and reported to NFIB members in the How Congress Voted report. See how your lawmaker is voting in the current 118th Congress scorecard. Legislators who vote with small business on key vote issues 70% or more of the time are eligible to earn NFIB’s Guardian of Small Business Award. Whether it’s existing laws and regulations that need changing or newly introduced legislation that would impact small business, NFIB has a proven track record of getting results. We have made measurable progress on the issues NFIB members voted on through the One Member, One Vote program. Voting on NFIB’s current Federal Issues Ballot – ballot #583 – is now open. Members can cast their votes by logging in to their account at NFIB.com/votemyballot.
